Welcome back to the Tarot Cycle.
This energies of the lunar cycle grow dark and birth into new form this month, out of the loving mother energy of the Empress and into the form and structure of the Emperor. Order, governance, structure, law.
Yes, and I feel that the question, “How do we act within the lands of our reality?” is appropriate
We have two really great energies there present as laws, the Law of Nature in the Empress, who is Venus, who is the spirit of life, love, and the grand beauty of the natural world; And the Law of Humankind, The Emperor (Zeus), and our various rules, structures (buildings and ideas), social structures, and the “Law” as we have created.
This is the house that Jack built, Aretha Franklin
This was the land that he worked by hand
It was the dream of an upright man
There was the room that was filled with love
It was a love that I was proud of
This is the life, the life that he planned
On the love, the same old loved
In the house that Jack built.
The Emperor’s New Clothes
What I am seeing here is the opportunity to first see our self in the realm of the reality that we perceive, and then through this viewing a meditation on the nature of our intention, actions, and interactions within the borders of our realm. Here are a few questions for you.
How do you relate with yourself when you are alone?
How are your closest relationships and how do you treat them? What is your tone, as discussed in Mitakuye Oyasin: Musing on Relationships here. How do you speak, act, and think. Not questioning to find “good or bad” but only looking to see how you foster what you have most nearest you.
How is this different from what you do or do not project when you are in the public eye, or in a social situation?
Dear Emperor, could it be time to see what it is that you are really wearing? Question not if you are prancing through the streets naked, believing you are in the finest clothes ever… maybe ask if you are the child of the Empress, and so part of the beauty of creation, why would there be shame in your baring all?
For as much as we like to hide parts of our selves there is a liberation that happens when we realize that we are seen. The power and vulnerability is disrobing, rather than being exposed.
The Tarot can seem stuffy sometimes. You look at the meanings you know so well and sometimes by rote you say “ah this here is the Emperor and so it must be (X).” I know I do it myself, as if the meaning of the card is immutable.
It is, and it isn’t. For me, this is also the message of the Emperor this month. What are your “facts” or “truths” and how do you promote them? Are you a dictator or a peacekeeper, or do you lead within the realm of your life by some other example. As Jamie Sams wrote in the Medicine Cards, do you lead through example?
I think there is a deeper importance rising up in the personal and reflecting in the collective this month, an evolving insight based on opening our awareness to the cause and effect of our actions (our vibration) and in the world we help to create how we arbitrate the truth of the laws of Nature within the man-made world. Do expectations of power and performance, approval or shame “dictate” our actions?
A last note here that came through here for me. Remember you are part of the equation, the rule, the law and the governing, you are not outside of it.
You may have noticed that I did not include any descriptive cards in reading around the Emperor. It is intentional. Naturally I look forward to your comments, questions, and insights and I think your personal influences are yours but can add to the collective reading. Draw the Emperor and then place four cards around them. What did you draw, what does it speak about your foundations and the lessons in this months cycle?
The Tarot Cycle
The Tarot Cycle is intended to demonstrate personal evolution using the Keys of the Tarot, in harmony with the lunar cycle, and displayed here at Lifencompass as an offering. I felt like this year of all years, was the perfect time to take initiative in my life and explain that journey in readings, poetry, art, and doing. The Tarot Cycle is a reading but not a forecast of the “future,” the Tarot in this case are used as personal, alchemical, tools of transformation. Sign posts of influences and energies.
I draw on the personal and the collective to create the monthly forecast, and it is encouraged to pull the monthly card and draw your own cards in a reading to see what influences you may be experiencing. Maybe you can see something in my tarot spreads but you will probably receive more if you likewise draw the cards and contemplate them. All things connected, lots of possibilities, I hope that my words and poetry inspire others to find within themselves the light, energy, and focus to light the way forward for their own self.
That is the Goal of the first part of the Tarot Cycle, The Hermit as an divine vision of BEing, I took out the word “Archetype” as it sounded too… stiff, finding our own inner light and bringing it out. Leaving the life we are expected to live and finding the life we are meant to live.
Thoughts, feelings, impressions or questions? Bring em I’m all ears, and I love active participation!
